My initial thought was this road was this was just going to be a pretty transit road that connected Passo di Resia with the Fluelpass. Let’s just say we were very pleasantly surprised. If only all transit roads could be like this.

Riding west, you leave the 180 at Nauders heading up a small pass. The real fun begins on the way down, with nice sweeping turns and some wide and well formed hairpins. At the bottom of the hill you have the boarder station for Switzerland, and then it is left down the canyon and 40km of great riding roads. The surface is mostly up to Swiss standard, meaning great, but it will be subject to road works to keep it this way.

We last road this route on a week day and the traffic was not bad, or certainly not as bad as I expected. When you do find traffic, there are ample passing opportunities as the road mainly consists of sweeping corners. The scenery is standard Swiss valley, lush green valley with a fast flowing river, surrounded by snow covered peaks- read stupendous. Once you make it to Susch, you are perfectly set up for more fun going over the Fluelpass or the Ofen pass. This road really helps sting together a great day of riding in this area.
