Rides

Here are the proposed routes for the 2014 EMM. These road books are subject to modification depending on weather, events on the day and most importantly how hard the majority want to ride.  We will set a mid day meeting point every day, provide GPS coordinates for those who want them and offer a short route option for those who do not want to do the whole ride on the day and would rather get back early for a beer and a nap.

Download PDF of rides, with lunch stops, here.

Ride 1

ride 1

This ride looks like a real cracker with 3 four Star+ routes on tap.

Out the door of the hotel, turn left, over the boarder to Austria, then strait up the Grossglockner- this is a toll road, but one that should be on everyone’s bucket list.

After the Grossglockner ride down to the valley towards Zell am See. Those who want the short trip head straight for the lake and some nosh. For the masochists among us there is a special treat today; the Dienten Satte, supposedly one of the best riding roads in Austria.

We come back to Italy over the Staller Sattel which is another stunning alpine pass.

Ride 2

This is mostly a Italian dolomite ride with a return trip to Austria over two highly rated passes; the Plocken and Nassfeld.

We will aim for lunch in Italy under the Nassfed pass. After a break we are back to some wonderful dolomite scenery on our way back to San Candido.
